You can spend hours in this huge square, observing everything that is happening.<\/span><\/p>\n

Musicians, water\u00a0 sellers , monkey tamers\u00a0 , and above all, snake charmers are all there for the show .<\/span><\/p>\n

The Place des Epices (Rahba Qedima) :<\/span><\/h4>\n

The herbalists\u00a0 sells\u00a0 the “classics” pepper, cumin, saffron, cinnamon … and many more .<\/span><\/p>\n

Snake skins, goat horns, or even caged hedgehogs and chameleons that you can even touch! <\/span><\/p>\n

Kids love all this , for sure .<\/span><\/p>\n

Mederasa Ben Youssef :<\/span><\/h4>\n

The school was once the largest Koranic school in the Maghreb. <\/span><\/h4>\n

Built in the 16th century, it could accommodate up to 900 students in the building’s 150 cells.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Today, you can wander\u00a0 through the very small cells, easily imagining how education was at that period of time .<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Mederasa is\u00a0 under restoration and is closed .<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bahia Palace :<\/span><\/h4>\n

Your kids may love the beauty of the palace if you visit it early in the morning .<\/p>\n

The whole place has more than 150 rooms , several patios\u00a0 and terrific gardens .<\/p>\n

If you have any chance to book a certified tour guide , your kids will learn\u00a0 alot about the history of Marrakech.<\/p>\n

If you are a nature lover , the Ouzoud is the right place for you and your children .<\/p>\n

It still takes a good three hours to get there (170 km from Marrakech).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My favorite places for lunch in Marrakech with the family:<\/span><\/p>\n

. Cafe des Epices : good for sandwichs , fresh salads , typical Moroccan juice .<\/p>\n

You can go with your kids to cafe des Epice , a nice recommendation .<\/p>\n

. The Jardin\u00a0 :\u00a0 has\u00a0 charming decoration, a pretty garden! Perfect for a light lunch, and a great place to relax.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your kids can play with some turtles , an experience not to miss .<\/p>\n

.La P\u00e2tisserie des Princes : you can taste\u00a0 fresh and still warm gazelle horn with a cup of mint tea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where to dine in Marrakech with the family?<\/span><\/h2>\n

A very nice decoration, low prices for a slightly chic place, and delicious tagines .<\/span><\/p>\n

(You\u00a0 can\u00a0 share one with\u00a0 the children\u00a0 and it is more than enough!).<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore , the guide will lead you , lantern in hand through the alleys of the medina\u00a0 to the restaurant door\u2026. a charming arrival!.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another charming place in the medina: the Terrasse des \u00e9pices, which belongs to the same owners as the Caf\u00e9 des \u00e9pices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Installed on a large terrace, under the stars, tagines and grills at reasonable prices for a superb setting.<\/span><\/p>\n

The best season to discover Marrakech\u00a0 Family Trip with the family?<\/span><\/h3>\n

All year ! Not so good anyway: February when it rains often.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marrakech is an ideal destination for a great family weekend! The trip is not long (few\u00a0 hours by plane).<\/span><\/p>\n

With very attractive prices for direct flights, for example on Transavia, the low-cost of Air France. <\/span><\/p>\n

To find the best deals, you can use price comparison sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local transport: on foot, or by taxi in the Medina. To be honest, It is very hard to drive there by car. If you are at the Palmeraie, you will easily find taxis to go back and forth to the center. Many taxis park south of Jamaa El Fna Square. Take a “grand taxi” (= large car); they are authorized to transport 4\/5 people and to leave the city; set the price before. A rental car is only useful when leaving Marrakech, in the Ourika Valley for example.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to\u00a0 put in the suitcase for Marrakech Family trip ?<\/span><\/h2>\n

an ideal book to keep busy, have fun, and discover lots of things about Morocco.<\/span><\/p>\n

a sweater or a “pashmina” for the evening (ideal for concealing a neckline or a golden shoulder …).<\/span><\/p>\n

The days are hot but the nights are cool!<\/span><\/p>\n

Avoid tight-fitting dresses, prefer loose pants and tunics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earplugs and a mask to sleep if you are in the medina and you are a light sleeper: the rooms are rather poorly soundproofed, and the song of the muezzin is early in the morning …<\/span><\/p>\n

Take a small first aid kit with you, just in case …<\/span><\/p>\n
